I'm passionate about maths, dyscalculia, special education,
(especially but not exclusively) deaf/hearing impairment.
Since I was 8 years old I wanted to be a special needs maths teacher!
I'm dyslexic so understand what it's like when learning is challenging.
I didn't get my diagnosis until after completing my Masters in Educational Audiology.
Now I am using fantastic technological support and embracing my neuro-diversity. This includes starting to develop my enjoyment of creative thinking within art and my own tutoring style.
I have qualified on the dyscalculia specialist teaching course at Edge Hill University. This further enhances my skills to support those who have maths difficulties and anxieties.
Specialist dyscalculia tutoring includes use of manipulatives (hands on or on-line resources), developing short term memory skills and a structured teaching programme.
